نمای کلی
The 20th Workshop on Hot Topics in Operating Systems (HotOS XX) will be held from May 14-16, 2025, in Banff, Alberta, Canada. The workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss new ideas in systems research and how technological advancements are shaping computational infrastructure.
HotOS XX: Call for Papers and Discussions
The 20th Workshop on Hot Topics in Operating Systems (HotOS XX) will bring together researchers and practitioners in computer systems to engage in lively discussions on the principles and practices of building systems software. The workshop aims to present new ideas and debate future research agendas in systems research.
Submission Types
- Position Papers: Propose new directions of systems research, advocate innovative approaches to long-standing problems, or report on deep insights gained from experience with real-world systems. The program committee will favor papers likely to stimulate reflection and discussion.
- Panels and Events: These may have various formats to inspire lively discussion and research direction-setting. Proposals should describe the topic, format, and length (up to 90 minutes).
Topics of Interest
HotOS takes a broad view of systems research, including but not limited to:
- Operating systems
- Storage
- Distributed systems
- Mobile and embedded systems
- Virtualization
- Programming languages
- Networking
- Security
- Dependability
- Manageability
- New systems contributions influenced by:
- Hardware design
- Training and serving machine learning
- Verification
- Economics
- Social organization
- Biological or other nontraditional computing systems
Submission Guidelines
- Research and Position Papers:
- Maximum 5 pages including figures and tables, plus as many pages as needed for references.
- Text formatted according to ACM's formatting conventions with 10-point font (two columns, 8.5x11-inch paper, 10-point Times Roman or Libertine font on 12-point leading, 0.75-inch margins, 0.33-inch gutter).
- Double-blind submission: Authors must anonymize their submissions and refrain from identifying themselves explicitly or by implication.
- Pages should be numbered.
- Figures and tables should be legible when printed or displayed in black and white.
- Use the
acmart
style (\documentclass[sigconf,10pt]{acmart}
). - Submissions not meeting criteria will be rejected without review.
- Panel and Event Proposals:
- Maximum 1-page proposal (using the same format as papers).
- Need not be anonymous (i.e., may be single blind).
- Evaluated based on relevance of topic and potential to engage the audience.
Submission Process
- Research and position papers as well as panel proposals must be received by Thursday, January 15, 2025 (AoE). This is a hard deadline.
- Submit as PDF files via the web submission form: https://hotos25.hotcrp.com/
- Select your submission type on the form (paper or proposal).
Important Dates
- Paper or Panel Proposal Submission Deadline: January 15, 2025 (AoE)
- Author Notifications: April 1, 2025
- Camera-ready Deadline: April 15, 2025
- Workshop: May 14–16, 2025
Publication and Presentation
- Revised versions of all accepted papers will be available online to registered attendees before the workshop.
- After the workshop, accepted papers, presentation slides, and discussion summaries will be made available on the workshop site.
- At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to present it and participate in the discussion.
- HotOS will be an in-person workshop. In extreme cases (e.g., visa issues), alternatives may be considered upon contacting the chairs.
Registration
- Registration will be limited to encourage deeper discussion.
- At least two authors per accepted paper will receive invitations to attend.
- A registration process to request an invitation will be announced for non-authors, students, and industry practitioners.
Policies
- Anonymity: Submissions must be anonymized following the double-blind review process. Failure to do so may result in rejection.
- Simultaneous Submission/Plagiarism: Prohibited and subject to ACM's policies.
- ORCID ID: Authors must obtain an ORCID ID for the publishing process.
- ACM Publications Policies: Authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including those on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects.
