The IEEE Conference on Software Engineering Education and Training (CSEE&T) 2025 will be co-located with ICSE 2025 in Ottawa, Canada, from April 28-29, 2025. The conference focuses on high-quality contributions addressing challenges, innovations, and best practices in software engineering education and training.
Call for Papers
The IEEE Conference on Software Engineering Education and Training (CSEE&T) invites submissions for its 37th edition, co-located with ICSE 2025 in Ottawa, Canada, from April 28-29, 2025.
CSEE&T 2025 aims to publish original high-quality contributions on challenges, innovations, and best practices in software engineering education and training. All types of software engineering education are of interest.
Topics of Interest
- Methods of teaching software engineering skills
- Methods of evaluating, assessing, and measuring software engineering skills
- Evaluation and assessment in software engineering education
- Automated evaluation of software engineering skills
- Evaluations of teaching and assessment methods in software engineering
- Empirical studies describing software engineering education contexts
- Pedagogical approaches supporting software engineering education and training in distributed and remote settings
- Learning technologies and tools that support software engineering education and training
- Developing soft skills (communication, collaboration, teamwork, organization, negotiation, conflict management) for software engineers
- Studies of equity, diversity, and inclusion in software engineering education and training
- Ethical and societal concerns (e.g., sustainability, human values) in software engineering education and training
- Onboarding and on-the-job training of software engineers
- Continuing education of software engineers

Submission Categories
- Research Paper (max 10 pages, plus up to 2 pages for references)
- Experience Report (max 10 pages, plus up to 2 pages for references)
- Industry Paper (max 10 pages, plus up to 2 pages for references)
- Idea Paper (max 5 pages, plus 1 page of references)
- Tool Paper (max 5 pages, plus 1 page of references)
- Replication Paper (max 5 pages, plus 1 page of references)
- Journal-first Submission (max 1 page)
Submissions should not exceed their respective category page limits. Non-compliance will result in desk rejection.
Evaluation Criteria
Submissions will be evaluated based on their category. Evaluation criteria include relevance, significance, soundness, verifiability, presentation, actionability, and lessons.
How to Submit
- All submissions must conform to the IEEE conference proceedings template, specified in the IEEE Conference Proceedings Formatting Guidelines.
- Submissions must strictly conform to the IEEE conference proceedings formatting instructions. Alterations of spacing, font size, and other changes that deviate from the instructions may result in desk rejection without further review.
- By submitting to CSEE&T 2025, authors acknowledge that they are aware of and agree to be bound by the ACM Policy and Procedures on Plagiarism and the IEEE Plagiarism FAQ.
- Papers must not have been published elsewhere and must not be under review or submitted for review elsewhere whilst under consideration for CSEE&T 2025.
- Authors are subject to all ACM Publications Policies, including ACM’s new Publications Policy on Research Involving Human Participants and Subjects.
- Authors are required to obtain an ORCID ID.
- CSEE&T 2025 will employ a double-anonymous review process. Authors’ names must be omitted from the submission, and all references to the author’s prior work should be in the third person.
- Submissions can be made via the submission site by the submission deadline.

- Abstract paper deadline: Thursday, October 3, 2024
- Paper submission deadline: Thursday, October 10, 2024 - Submissions close at 23:59 AoE (Anywhere on Earth, UTC-12)
- Acceptance Notification: Monday, December 16, 2024
- Camera Ready: Monday, February 17, 2025
Conference Attendance Expectation
If a submission is accepted, at least one author is required to register for and attend the CSEE&T conference and present the paper. The presentation is expected to be delivered in person, or online if this is impossible due to travel limitations (related to, e.g., health, visa, or COVID-19 prevention).
