IEEE VR 2026: Call for Papers

IEEE VR 2026 seeks original, high-quality papers in all areas related to virtual reality (VR), including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and 3D user interfaces (3DUIs).

There is a SINGLE submission deadline for a unified review process for both IEEE TVCG and conference-only papers. The possible outcomes are:

  • Accept as IEEE TVCG paper, with presentation at IEEE VR 2026
  • Accept as IEEE VR 2026 conference paper, with presentation at IEEE VR 2026
  • Accept as IEEE VR 2026 poster
  • Reject

Note: Papers will not be automatically accepted as IEEE VR Posters. Authors of rejected papers will have to submit directly to the poster track.

Inquiries can be directed to: program2026@ieeevr.org

Important Dates

Each deadline is 23:59:59 AoE (Anywhere on Earth).

  • Abstracts due (REQUIRED): September 05, 2025
  • Submissions due: September 12, 2025
  • Initial notifications: December 12, 2025
  • Revised submissions due: January 16, 2026
  • Final notifications: January 23, 2026
  • Camera-ready materials due: January 30, 2026

Submission Guidelines

  • Submission Platform: Precision Conference Solutions (https://new.precisionconference.com/vr26a)
  • Review Process: IEEE VR 2026 uses a DOUBLE-BLIND review process. Failure to anonymize submissions will result in DESK REJECTION.
  • Contribution Categories: Each research paper should cover one or more of the following:
    • Methodological papers: Describe advances in theories and methods of AR/VR/MR and 3DUI.
    • Technical papers: Describe advancements in algorithms or devices critical to AR/VR/MR and 3DUI development.
    • Application papers: Provide insights by explaining how existing ideas were applied to solve a problem in a novel way, including an evaluation.
    • System papers: Indicate how techniques and technologies were integrated to produce an effective system, conveying lessons learned.
  • Evaluation: Each paper should include an evaluation of its contributions (e.g., user studies, benchmarking).
  • Format: Papers must be strictly formatted according to IEEE VGTC conference submission guidelines and submitted electronically as PDF documents. Use the IEEE Computer Society VGTC conference format.
    • MS Word Template: Ensure the final submission matches the formatting guidelines or it may be desk rejected. Check sample PDF documents for correct formatting.
  • Page Limit: 4-9 pages with an additional 2 pages for references. Appendices are included in the page count.
  • Supplementary Materials: Provide in a separate file. Videos are encouraged to aid reviewing.

Topics

IEEE VR 2026 seeks contributions in VR/AR/MR and 3DUI including, but not limited to, the following topics:

Review Process

  • Review Cycle I (Submission to Initial notification): Submissions are assigned to two IPC members for initial review. Early rejection is possible for guideline violations or low scores. This stage is double blind. Other submissions will receive at least three reviews.
  • Review Cycle II (Initial notification to Final decision): Revisions of conditionally accepted papers are reviewed by their coordinator for a final recommendation.

Additional Guidelines

  • Abstract Submission: A paper abstract must be uploaded seven days prior to the paper submission deadline.
  • Ethics and Responsibility: Research with human participants must follow institutional ethical guidelines and obtain relevant ethics committee approval. Approval details must be reported, and proof must be available upon request. Incorrect reporting will result in desk rejection.
  • Participant Diversity: Research submissions, especially those claiming general benefit, should strive for participant diversity (e.g., gender, age). Participant demographics must be reported. Reviewers will consider participant diversity.
  • Review Duties for Authors: For each submitted paper, one author must register to review up to three papers through PCS.
  • Presentation at Conference: All accepted submissions must be presented orally, preferably in-person. Online presentations are accommodated only in exceptional cases.
  • Submission Language: All paper submissions must be in English.
  • Previous Publication and Plagiarism: Submitted manuscripts must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism will be checked via IEEE Crosscheck and lead to rejection.
  • AI-generated Text: The use of AI-generated content must be disclosed in the acknowledgments section, identifying the AI system and specific sections used.
  • Submission Anonymity: IEEE VR uses a DOUBLE-BLIND review process. Submissions must not contain author-identifying information. Previous work must be cited in the third person. Failure to adhere will result in desk rejection.
  • Pre-dissemination: Uploading manuscripts to online repositories (e.g., arXiv) before the review process ends is permitted but may compromise anonymity.
  • Videos: Videos submitted as supplementary material must be free of identifying information and will be considered for the video proceedings. Revised versions will be requested upon acceptance.
