ATMOS 2025: Call for Papers

The 25th Symposium on Algorithmic Approaches for Transportation Modelling, Optimization and Systems (ATMOS 2025) will be held in Warsaw, Poland, on September 18-19, 2025, in connection with ALGO 2025.

Scope

ATMOS brings together researchers and practitioners interested in all aspects of algorithmic methods and models for transport optimization. The symposium provides a forum for the exchange and dissemination of new ideas and techniques. The aim of making transportation better gives rise to very complex and large-scale optimization problems requiring innovative solution techniques and ideas from algorithms, mathematical optimization, theoretical computer science, and operations research.

Invited Speaker

  • Speaker: Marjan van den Akker, Utrecht University, the Netherlands
  • Title: A glimpse into OR for airline operations and why this is (not?) public transportation

Topics of Interest

The symposium welcomes papers addressing the following topics (but not limited to):

  • Congestion Modelling and Reduction
  • Crew and Duty Scheduling
  • Demand Forecasting
  • Delay Management
  • Design of Pricing Systems
  • Electromobility
  • Infrastructure Planning
  • Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Models for User Behaviour
  • Line Planning
  • Mobile Applications for Transport
  • Mobility-as-a-Service
  • Multi-modal Transport Optimization
  • Routing and Platform Assignment
  • Route Planning in Road and Public Transit Networks
  • Rostering
  • Timetable Generation
  • Tourist Tour Planning
  • Traffic Guidance
  • Vehicle Scheduling

The symposium also welcomes papers applying and advancing the following techniques:

  • Algorithmic Game Theory
  • Approximation Algorithms
  • Combinatorial Optimization
  • Graph and Network Algorithms
  • Heuristics and Meta-heuristics
  • Mathematical Programming
  • Methods for the Integration of Planning Stages
  • Online and Real-time Algorithms
  • Simulation Tools
  • Stochastic and Robust Optimization

Important Dates

  • Submission deadline: July 6, 2025 (AoE)
  • Notification to authors: August 5, 2025
  • Camera ready submission: August 24, 2025
  • Symposium: September 18-19, 2025

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit high-quality manuscripts reporting original unpublished research in the topics related to the symposium. Simultaneous submission to other journals or conferences with published proceedings is not allowed.

By submitting a paper, authors acknowledge that in case of acceptance, at least one of the authors must register at ALGO/ATMOS 2025, attend the conference on-site, and present the paper.

Submissions must be in the form of a single PDF file prepared according to the author instructions and using the LaTeX OASIcs style file and must be submitted electronically via the EasyChair submission system.

Contribution Types

ATMOS 2025 accepts two types of submissions:

  • Regular paper submissions:

    • Length: Main body 12-15 pages, total not exceeding 20 pages (including bibliography, front pages, and optional appendix).
    • Proceedings length: Up to 20 pages.
    • Should clearly motivate the problem, discuss prior work, state contributions, and outline technical ideas.
  • Short paper submissions:

    • Length: At least 4 and at most 6 pages.
    • Proceedings length: Up to 6 pages.
    • May present preliminary results or work-in-progress.

Proceedings

The proceedings will be published on the Dagstuhl Open Access Series in Informatics (OASIcs) publication service.
