Submission Categories and Guidelines
The IFIP Performance 2025 conference accepts submissions in two categories:
Regular Papers
- Length: Up to 20 pages (single-column format) for technical content, including all tables and figures. References are excluded from the page limit.
- Formatting: Authors are recommended to use the Elsevier article class
elsarticle.cls
(with the3p
document class option) and BibTeX for bibliography. See the guide for authors here. - Appendices: Authors may include an appendix (of unrestricted length) for technical correctness justification, but reviewers are not obligated to review it.
Short Papers
- Length: Up to 5 pages in the new PER double-column format. References are excluded from the page limit.
- Formatting: Authors should use the specified PER double-column format.
- Appendices: Similar to regular papers, appendices may be included but are not guaranteed to be reviewed.
- Publication: Accepted short papers will be published in a special ACM Performance Evaluation Review (PER) issue.
Submission Process
- Papers must be submitted through the hotCRP platform in printable PDF form.
- No changes to margins, spacing, or font sizes are allowed from those specified by the style files. Papers violating formatting guidelines will be returned without review.
Policies and Review Process
- Review Process: All submissions will be reviewed using a double-blind review process.
- Anonymity: Authors must make a good-faith effort to anonymize papers. Remove authors’ names and affiliations from the title page, acknowledgments, and file names. Reference your own past work in the third person. Anonymous citations should be used where necessary.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must declare conflicts with TPC members truthfully on the submission page. Conflicts include colleagues from the same institution, advisor-advisee relationships, co-authors within the last three years, and other close relationships.
- Previous Submissions: Authors of papers previously submitted to Sigmetrics 2023 are required to declare this information and may include a response to the Sigmetrics reviews in a clearly marked appendix.
- Soft Tracking: Authors must select a track when submitting. Tracks include:
- Learning: Machine learning and AI algorithms, and their application to systems.
- Measurement & Applied Modelling: Empirical or applied contributions, new models or simulation tools.
- Systems: Design, implementation, and evaluation of computing, networked, social, or cyber-physical systems.
- Theory: Progress on theoretical problems, new analysis techniques.
- Pre-submission Versions: Publication of preliminary work on personal websites or arXiv is allowed, but authors should avoid broad dissemination that could compromise anonymity.
- Simultaneous Submissions: Not allowed. Papers submitted concurrently to other conferences/journals will be rejected.
- Nondisclosure Agreement: Papers accompanied by nondisclosure agreement forms will not be considered.
Special Issues and Journal Expedited Review
- Regular Papers: By default, accepted regular papers will be published in a special Performance Evaluation (PEVA) issue. Authors may opt out of PEVA for an expedited review process in journals related to Performance Evaluation and Operations Research, including:
- ACM Transactions on Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems (ToMPECS)
- Queueing Systems: Theory and Application (QUESTA)
- Stochastic Models.
- Short Papers: Accepted short papers will be published in a special ACM Performance Evaluation Review (PER) issue.
Ethical Considerations
Papers describing experiments with users or user data should follow basic principles of ethical research, including beneficence, minimal risk, voluntary consent, respect for privacy, and limited deception. Authors are encouraged to include a subsection describing these issues and must attest that their work complies with all applicable ethical standards of their home institution(s).
Diversity & Inclusiveness
- Inclusivity Guidelines: Promote inclusiveness by challenging implicit biases. Use gender-neutral pronouns and diverse names in examples. Be mindful of diverse backgrounds and family structures.
- Accessibility Guidelines: Ensure graphs and figures are readable in monochrome or color by using patterns, symbols, and textures. Use color palettes designed for visually impaired or color-blind people, avoiding poor color combinations.
