The 24th International Federation for Information Processing – International Conference on Entertainment Computing (IFIP-ICEC 2025) will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from August 27th to 30th, 2025. Organized by IFIP TC14 – Entertainment Computing Technical Committee and hosted by Nihon University, this conference is a prime event for researchers, practitioners, artists, designers, and industry professionals in the field of digital entertainment content and experience systems, covering topics like interactive art, game-based learning, XR technologies, and ethics in entertainment.
IFIP-ICEC 2025: Call for Papers
The 24th International Federation for Information Processing – International Conference on Entertainment Computing (IFIP ICEC 2025) will be held in Tokyo, Japan, from August 27th to 30th, 2025.
The conference is organized by the IFIP TC14 Entertainment Computing Technical Committee and hosted by the IPSJ SIG-EC and Nihon University. IFIP ICEC is one of the longest-running and most prestigious scientific conferences in the field of Entertainment Computing.
Aims
IFIP TC14 aims to encourage research, development, and sharing of innovative ideas, models, and practices in computer applications in entertainment. Original submissions are invited to enhance computation and use studies in this field.

Calls for Submissions
1. Journal and Conference Tracks
Full papers present high impact, mature research with original new results. Submissions should describe novel unpublished work addressing one or more of the research topics.
1.1 Journal Track
- Submission Deadline: February 3rd, 2025 (AoE)
- Acceptance Notification: March 14th, 2025 (1st Review Cycle)
- Papers accepted to this track will be published in a special issue of Elsevier’s Journal of Entertainment Computing (ENTCOM).
- Papers will be presented at the conference and published in the journal later, following ENTCOM’s submission and publication process.
- Highly developed works are recommended for this track.
- At least one author must register and present at the conference for inclusion in the special issue.

1.2 Conference Track
- Submission Deadline: March 31st, 2025 (AoE)
- Acceptance Notification: May 9th, 2025
- Papers will be published in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.
- Submissions undergo a double-blind review process.
- Accepted papers will be scheduled for long presentations and discussions at the conference.
- Paper length should reflect contribution and maturity; significant research advances should not exceed 12 pages (excluding references).

2. Works in Progress (WiP)
- Submission Deadline: April 18th, 2025 (AoE)
- Acceptance Notification: May 16th, 2025
- WiP contributions present late-breaking work, new experimental projects, or research in early phases.
- Submissions should not exceed 8 pages (excluding references) in Springer LNCS format.
- Accepted papers will be included in the official Springer LNCS proceedings and scheduled for presentation.

3. Workshops and Tutorials
3.1 Workshops
- Proposal Deadline: February 18th, 2025 (AoE)
- Proposals should include title, abstract, summary, format, participant profile, organizer bios, expected outcomes, and proposed dates.
- Workshop proposals do not have a page limit. However, to be considered for inclusion in the conference proceedings, authors may submit a 6-page paper (maximum, excluding references) in Springer LNCS format by the full paper submission deadline.

3.2 Tutorials
- Proposal Deadline: February 14th, 2025 (AoE)
- Proposals should be two pages and include contact information, CV, title, objective, background, duration, and content summary.
- To be considered for inclusion in the conference proceedings, authors of tutorial proposals may also submit a 6-page (maximum) paper in the Springer LNCS format, observing the deadline for full paper submission.
4. Interactive Entertainment Showcase
- Submission Deadline: April 18th, 2025 (AoE)
- Showcases interactive demonstrations, installations, and games.
- Submissions consist of a 4-5 page document (Springer LNCS format) with an extended abstract and a final page for video link, technical requirements, and space needs.
- Successful submissions will be included in the conference proceedings.

5. Student Competition
- Submission Deadline: April 18th, 2025 (AoE)
- For students (up to PhD level) presenting their game or interactive entertainment installation as part of a research endeavor.

6. Doctoral Consortium
- Submission Deadline: July 4th, 2025
- Provides an opportunity for doctoral students to explore and develop their research interests with guidance from distinguished researchers.
